Kazakhstan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on expanding trade, investment, and cooperation in key areas such as energy, critical minerals, and transport. This was the central theme of the discussions held on October 19 in Samarkand between Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Both officials underscored the importance of deepening economic ties and attracting investments to boost joint projects under the existing strategic partnership framework. They also reviewed the progress of agreements made during the November 2025 meeting between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and then-US President Donald Trump. Tileuberdi highlighted the potential for US investment and advanced technologies to enhance Kazakhstan’s energy, critical minerals, and transportation infrastructure.
The bilateral talks were part of the broader C5+1 Ministerial Meeting, which included the United States and the five Central Asian countries. This regional forum focused on regional economic development, trade, investment, and connectivity. Participants emphasized the need to strengthen transport and logistics networks, diversify supply chains, and push forward joint initiatives in energy, critical minerals, and digital innovation.
The discussions concluded with a joint statement reaffirming the countries’ commitment to long-term cooperation and the implementation of previously agreed initiatives. This commitment reflects the ongoing efforts to foster regional stability and economic growth through collaborative efforts among the C5+1 member states.
