Iran has firmly rejected accusations of involvement in the Yemen conflict, asserting that Houthi forces operate independently without Tehran’s influence. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized that Iran does not meddle in Yemeni affairs, dismissing any ties to recent events involving Yemen and Saudi Arabia. He pointed out that the root causes of the conflict are internal to Yemen itself.
In a related development, Baghaei confirmed that a scheduled meeting in Oman, meant to include Iran and Gulf nations, has been postponed at the request of Saudi Arabia. This meeting was aimed at discussing regional security and fostering cooperation among the involved countries. Despite the delay, Baghaei assured that a bilateral understanding between Iran and Oman concerning maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz has been finalized, and the two nations will decide on the next steps independently.
The planned talks were anticipated to serve as a platform for both Iran and Oman to present their agreements on maritime navigation through the critical Strait of Hormuz. The postponement does not affect the progress made between the two countries, as Baghaei highlighted their readiness to move forward with the understanding.
Meanwhile, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, clarified that the regional meeting was delayed to facilitate consensus among the participating nations. He reaffirmed Oman’s unwavering dedication to dialogue, regional stability, and fostering long-term cooperative relationships in the region.
