Kazakhstan and Germany have reached an agreement to enhance their economic partnership, focusing on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This development follows discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29, which centered on deepening bilateral relations and exploring further cooperation opportunities.
During the talks, President Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as Kazakhstan’s key strategic partner in Europe and acknowledged the significant progress in their bilateral relations over the past 30 years. He proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform aimed at supporting joint projects and facilitating investment between the two nations.
Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to discuss collaboration in various sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Key topics included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
Both countries are also examining the potential for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan, which would provide them with greater access to the broader Central Asian market. This move is expected to strengthen economic ties and promote mutual growth.
