This marks the initial operational use of this innovative technology by the utility. The pilot project aims to test the performance, reliability, and adaptability of the lighting system under the coastal conditions of the site. Based on the collected data, IEC will determine if the technology is viable for broader applications.
The iLamp system integrates multiple functionalities into a single lighting pole. Each unit features LED lighting, a 360-degree solar array, and battery storage, enabling the system to operate independently of the conventional power grid by generating and storing its own electricity. Additionally, the platform offers edge-computing capabilities, allowing local processing of data generated by the equipment housed on the pole, rather than relying solely on centralized systems.
Throughout the pilot, the system will be evaluated against a set of technical and operational benchmarks established for this project. IEC will thoroughly analyze the results before deciding on any potential continuation or scaling of the deployment. The immediate focus remains on completing the installation and assessing its performance.
